THYMUS nitidus
- Age
- 8th February 2006. 3 put into pots at back step. Purchased over mail order.
- Where it's Growing
- Full sun position in an exposed area with the house and pergola surrounding them.
- Upkeep
- Seem to need a fair bit of water and liquid fertiliser.
- Growth Patterns
- Native to Sicily. Also known as Sicily thyme, where they use it in poultry seasoning.
- Growing very well spreading out over the pots and rocks. In the short time they have been in the pots,
they have tripled in size.
- Flowers late November until early January.
- Future Notes
- One of my favourite herbs. Smells beautifully like lemons.
- I noticed one or two going a bit yellow, so I gave them all liquid fertilisers (26.9.06)
- 13.8.07- I noticed early one winter morning that these plants were frozen from the cold air.
But they are still growing very strong & healthy. They are spreading over their pots nicely.
