STRAWBERRY TREES arbutus unedo
- Age
- Already established in the garden
- Where it's Growing
- All over the garden. The most common bush in our garden.
- Upkeep
- We add alot of mulch and dynamic lifter underneath them and they seem to thrive. We prune them quiet regularly to keep them nice and bushy.
- Growth Patterns
- Native to the Mediterranean region and western Europe north to western France and Ireland. Due to its presence in South West Ireland,
it is also known as Irish strawberry tree, and Killarney strawberry tree.
- These trees grow fantastic in our conditions. They are thick and bushy and thrive in all our weather conditions. They grow great!
- Flowers mid winter 'after' fruiting
- Future Notes
- 26.9.06- I noticed one of the trees in the front yard has alot of die back on it. So I gave them all a heap of cow manure, dynamic lifter and mulch.
- 13.8.07- These trees have really started to thicken up & grow tall. They now have a good cover of mulch & soil under them & we are constantly pruning them.
- 01.01.08 - Since all the rain we have had over November December, these trees, especially the ones along the front fence, have powered along.
Almost doubling in size since we have moved in here. All their new growth is light green and shiny. Looks great!
