ELKHORNS/STAGHORNS

• Age
  • 8th May 2005 Staghorn purchased from Bunnings.
  • 20th February 2006 Elkhorns taken from dead palms at my Mums home in Northern NSW.
• Where it's Growing
  • Staghorn is in Fernery on Southern side of wall.
  • Elkhorns are on Southern side of big gum tree and underneath it. Also in Fernery on Southern side of wall.
• Upkeep
  • Need constant watering and maybe even a little more shade than they get in summer. We add sphagnum moss to inside the plants to keep the moisture in them. We put up more shade cloth over the fernery to block out the morning sun in Summer.
• Growth Patterns
  • The Elkhorns have done remarkably well. We soaked them before we put them up on the trees which might have helped. But they all have alot of new growth and plants growing out of them already!
