PORT WINE MAGNOLIA michelia figo
- Age
- Planted 11th September 2004.
- Planted 26th January 2006 by my brother Toby. Purchased from Glenbrook Hardware.
- Where it's Growing
- Upkeep
- Good mulch. Alot of slow release, charlies carp and worm juice and regular watering in summer. Just for starters!
The new plant has had to have a shade cloth erected around it facing the morning as it would not like 'full' morning sun.
- Growth Patterns
- Slow grower, but that doesn't mean it doesn't flower well. The established one has always flowered well. Both have grown quiet well and the oldest one
is now a nice sized small bush. It is also covered in flowers for its second flowering season (2006).
- Flowers mid Spring and again mid Autumn.
- Future Notes
- My favourite plant. Ever since having a huge specimen 10 foot tall in my garden in Katoomba, I have always loved and wanted these plants.
- Gave the older plant a heap of cow manure and mulch. Then gave both of them liquid fertilisers (26.9.06)
- Native to East Asia - China
