BOTTLE BRUSH callistemons
- Age
- Planted 29th May 2004 in exposed central part of garden. Purchased Oct 2002
- Planted 27th march 2005 in a more sheltered position in garden
- Very large tree already existing along driveway.
- Where it's Growing
- The oldest plant is in a very exposed area of the garden. It recieves full sun until after lunch, then dappled sun.
It is surrounded in huge sandstone rock and is living on shallow sandy soil.
- The newer plants are positioned under a canopy of gum trees and surrounded in taller thick shrubs and covered in natural mulch.
- Upkeep
- Never even touch these plants. Never do a thing except occassionally throw some blood and bone and slow release fertilisers.
- Growth Patterns
- Slow. Very slow and are prone to a fair bit of die back in very dry hot weather. Although the big established one in the front garden is growing brilliantly.
- Flowers in mid to late spring.
- Future Notes
- The big established tree along the driveway flowered superbly this season. It still looks great now (2/11/06)
